Good Bye Buster

Buster died today.  We are all very, very sad.
Paul and I always say he was our "first".
We picked him out of a litter to be our very own and raised him since he was a pup of about 3 months old.  He has been such a good dog.

We miss him so very much.

Buster the best dog ever.
July 17, 1997 - October 1, 2009

Paul buried him in the backyard, beyond the fence.  We had a funeral for him, sobbed like crazy, and laid fresh flowers on his grave. We remembered all the good times and annoying times we've had with him that are now just plain funny memories.  All through the day there is someone crying.

Buster has lived in Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon and was an avid traveler in between.
He loved to eat, run out the front door, make smellies, chase frisbees, and sniff babies.
In his younger days he swam in lakes, jumped out of a boat, ate our Christmas tree twice, ate Elijah's gingerbread cookie from pre-school, ate Paul's chicken off of the counter-stirofoam wrapper and all, and was even known for getting his tail tangled in the dishwasher rack.
He leaves behind 2 grieving parents and 5 grieving children.

Thank you, Lord, for the wonderful time we had with him
and if at all possible,
may we see him again in heaven please.

I'm so sorry. What happened? Tell the kids we know how hard it is and hope that God heals their hearts quickly.

He seemed like he was in such good shape.

Rachel and family I am so sorry. I know how terribly hard it is to lose "a family member" we had our dog Gabriel for 15 years and our cat Cola probably 13 years. We haven't gotten any more it is just to hard. But there is hope you will have all those funny, sad, weird, etc. memories. Think on those. And know that The Lord is so good at comforting.

Oh, Rachel! I feel for you. I'm praying for your family and I hope that you will have many encouraging friends that will help take the sting out of Buster's Death. He sounded like quite a neat dog. He was lucky to have such a wonderful family who loved him so much.

Dedicated to Buster and all the others: The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
